Officials Vs Cancer
|
| The week of January 23-26 has
been set by IAABO as Officials vs Cancer
week. During this week, all officials
are asked to wear pink whistles to signify the
fight against cancer. All
officials are encouraged to donate a portion
of a game fee during that week to the
Officials vs Cancer fund. All monies
donated/raised by Maine officials will be
distributed back to Maine organizations
working against cancer. |
Jr IAABO Makes The 2011 MPA Invitational Tournament
 |
IAABO President Mark Byron stands with Andrew Gordon and Ben Laflin who both officiated games in the 2011 MPA Invitational Tournament. Ben and Andrew were both participants in the first Jr IAABO class and are the first graduates to officiate in the Maine State High School Tournament. Spearheaded by Mark Byron and Keith Morang, Board 20’s Jr. IAABO is in its 10th year. Board 20 has 7 full time members who began their officiating careers as part of Jr. IAABO. Currently there are over 15 young people participating in Board 20’s Jr. IAABO program. |
| Doug Burdin, president of IAABO Board 20, presented Cleveland Brown, of the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville Maine, a certificate of appreciation for the assistance he has provided the Board in our floor education training program. Cleveland has arranged games for Board 20’s new recruits to officiate while veteran officials are on hand to provide feedback and instruction. With his support, Board 20’s floor ed training continues to be successful in preparing our new officials for their officiating careers. |
